About Mad Monkey Siargao
Mad Monkey Siargao is located in General Luna, close to the beach and the main activity strip. Like Rucksack Inn, it falls within our standard shared shuttle service area, and we drop off directly at the property entrance. Distance from airport: approximately 30 kilometers, 45 minutes by van.
Shared Shuttle to Mad Monkey — ₱350/person
Most Mad Monkey guests — backpackers, digital nomads, and social travelers — arrive on our shared shuttle. It's comfortable, affordable, and delivers you directly to the hostel door. No extra walking, no navigation required after a long travel day.
Book in advance to guarantee your seat. During peak season, the shared shuttle fills quickly after each flight.
Private Van for Groups
Mad Monkey is a social hostel that attracts groups of friends traveling together. If you're arriving as a group of 4 or more, the math often favors a private van:
- 4 people on shared shuttle: 4 × ₱350 = ₱1,400
- 4 people on private van: ₱2,500 ÷ 4 = ₱625 each
- Extra cost per person for private: ₱275
- What you get for ₱275 extra: Instant departure + zero stops + your whole group together
For many arriving groups, this is an easy yes.
Arriving with Surfboards
Mad Monkey attracts a significant surfing contingent. If you're traveling with boards:
- Mention the number and size of boards in the booking form
- We'll send a vehicle with adequate board space
- No extra charge for surfboards
If you have more than 2 boards, a private van is strongly recommended to ensure adequate space for all equipment and passengers.
The Arrival Experience
Your Shuttle Siargao driver holds a sign with your name at the airport exit. You'll be at Mad Monkey within 45–50 minutes of landing. If you arrive before check-in (typically 2 PM), the hostel will store your luggage so you can hit the beach immediately.
Getting Around During Your Stay
- Scooter rental: Mad Monkey and surrounding GL streets have multiple rental shops. ₱350–₱400/day
- Cloud 9: 15–20 minute scooter ride north
- Island hopping: Book through the hostel or any GL tour operator. About ₱1,200–₱1,500/person
Departure Transfer
Book your return transfer from Mad Monkey to the airport at the same time as your arrival booking. We'll pick you up from the hostel — allow 2 hours before your flight.
